Shark Pants - Automatic Pinner 7"
The jumping jehosaphats of Shark Pants' new 7inch record juices the classic rock fruit & drops a bit of it into the rock 'n roll grease pop for which helps to ignite their bitchin' brand of garage punk ecstasy (I just said a mouthful, huh?). Don't let the kitten fool ya either. This was released on Dirt Cult records recently & is still available from the label. You should also check out their "Porno Snakehead" LP on Recess Records when you get a chance. Rockin'. P.S. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. ♥LinkMyspace

Kitty Little - Green Thumbs b/w Makin' It 7"
Some of you might have heard me mention in my blog a while or so ago about how fun Kitty Little are & how easily they could brighten up anyone's day. Those who don't, I kinda' just mentioned it again so no need to worry. This AOTU single (volume 5 in the series) is the band at their (many) best(s) & is gone via the label. The band only has a handful left (out of a pressing of 250), so the next copy could be anyone's gain. They're also working on a new split with Scientific Maps that's due out soon. Another cool one I can't wait to hear. LinkMyspace

Nighty Night - Belle 7"
Nighty Night's "Belle" 7inch is the kind of record that quickly becomes your best friend on those electric stereo & headphone nights. Their Indie Pop raindrops of colorful melody & underground courage is the reason why I have 2 extra copies of this release. You can get one for yourself from either the band or Let's Pretend Records. Only 500 were pressed (400 on black vinyl, 100 on white). I'm happily looking forward to their next release. Link

Self titled debut, expected to feature in many top 10 lists i heard them through the NME earlier this week which is crazy, i guess they review one good band every year.

Stolen Hearts - Heart Collector 7"

This next band's 7inch is really cool. It's been out a while now & I've been enjoying it since its release. The Stolen Hearts have a garage pop tunefulness that tends to hit the center of your musical core. Their songs are catchy, nostalgic, & sincere. Any fan of garage pop/power pop will enjoy this record. Copies of it are still available from Douchemaster, although I think by now very few quantities remain. If ya dig, head there & see.

Snake Flower 2 - Talk About It b/w Running From the Night 7"
Snake Flower 2 is another Northern California band. Some might have heard of 'em. For those who haven't, here's your chance. This 7inch single was released on Tic Tac Totally & is gone, gone. gone. You might be able to track it down somewhere if you're a vinyl fanatic like me. Good news, though. Their "Renegade Daydream" LP is still available, so check it out if you haven't already. It can be found at Tic Tac Totally as well. Snake Flower's psychedelic garage punk is pretty good stuff. Enjoy. Link

Spencey Dude & The Doodles - Flirting 7"
Spencey Dude & The Doodles are an amazing band. They're from San Francisco, California & play garage punk with a healthy dose of melody & pop. They remind me slightly of Happy Burger without the songs about fast food (although I wouldn't mind). Instead, they have fuzz filled fun with topics about flirting, fidelity, & guys with girl addictions. Good times. This just came out on Rob's House Records & is limited to a pressing of 700. Get it while it's hot.Link

Sic Alps/ Magik Markers Tour 12"

Tour split from two great bands. really wish I could seen these two together.
magik markers remain one of the best bands around, really hope next year is a big one for them and they finally do a full UK tour, Sic Alps are great live too.
This tour EP is the best representation of both bands (I'm much preferring the noise pop side of sic alps and the markers seem to save their best exclusively for their lp's) but still recommended for any fans.

Carrie Nations - Self Titled 7"
In keeping with my theme for today (kinda'), Carrie Nations was another band that I never got to see play. They have a sort of post-hardcore vibe that I've always loved. Members went on to partake in other projects such as Hot New Mexicans, American Cheeseburger, & Dark Meat. This is the band's self titled 7inch released on Stankhouse Records & it's still available. The band also released a split with This Bike Is a Pipe Bomb & an LP entitled "Be Still" which are both out of print. Talk about good times. ♥ LinkMyspace

Cheeky - What The Heck 12"
Last month Cheeky played their last show in their home state of New York. This saddens me because I never got a chance to see them live. This amazing band has left us with only two available records: "Choke On a Cheeseburger" 7inch & this latest release served up by Freedom School Records. If you're a fan of punk pop then you're going to enjoy this. If you're some anonymous lunkheaded who's outgrown punk rock & leaves comments expressing that you have (you know who you are, booger brain) then this isn't going to be for you (nor is anything that I'll be posting in the future). I dig 'em & I hope some of you will too.Link

The Horn The Hunt
Was sent this a few weeks ago, so I must apologise to the band for not checking my e-mails and posting sooner.Leeds based, but originating in Sandnes, Norway they remind me a little of both The Knife and Bjork. Highly recommended if you like experimental pop.

Yeasayerrrrrrr : Oddddd Blooooooddddd (2010)

I just posted this on eyegin, but what the hell. Why not here, too. The more the merrier, right? I've heard endless criticisms of this band from my friends, but I've seen them live a few times and they are undeniably fantastic musicians whether or not you dig their genre. Lean back and let this take you by siege.
PS note how i used my intense creative abilities (read: zero% creativity) to title this for maximum avoiddeletionability.
Rent Boys - demos

Caught these guys on Wednesday with Ariel Pink, Box Elders and Egyptian Hip Hop at the Deaf Institute in Manchester and I was pretty impressed.
Hailing from Leeds, and seem to be getting more attention, which is great, they play real garage punk rock, highly recommended, the song "Ridicule" is definitely one of the best songs I've heard all year.

Poppets - Live På Utmarken Cassette
Lately, I haven't been able to get enough of the Poppets. I'm sure some of you are rocking in that same boat. Their 12inch is killer (get it if you haven't already), their 7inchers are amazing (I'm still looking for a couple of them), & now we have a live cassette from Burger Records that captures their lo-fi garage punk immediacy: raw, rad, harmonic & sweet. Only 250 copies were made and judging from the availability meter on the label's site not many are left. Get it while you still can.Link

V/A - Santa's Got A GTO ! - Rodney On The Roq's Fav X-Mas Songs
This is one of my favorite non-mainstream Christmas albums. Rodney Bingenheimer is a notorious Los Angeles Dj who has played music from legendary punk bands (before they became legendary), obscure music from the underground, & great stuff from the U.K. Some might know him from his punk compilations on Posh Boy Records. He compiles some of his beloved x-mas tunes on this one & they're good. This CD only release is out of print but that doesn't mean not getting it if you should see it available. This was unleashed on Dionysus Records. Visit their website to check out some other cool gems. Ho-Ho-HumLink

The Electric Bunnies - Through the Magical Door LP
The Electric Bunnies are BACK with a BITCHIN' full length!!! You've heard their 7inchers & split with Pink Reason, now it's time to take a serious journey through their rock 'n roll wonderland of psychedelic experience. Pop magic mushrooms or not. It's a killer release either way. And the packaging is amazing too (the album opens up into a game board w/pieces nestled inside of the record sleeve). What a way to close out the year! This is available from Florida's Dying. Get it before it's gone.Link

Unwelcome Guests / Saint Sweetheart split 7"

S'up? I'm Bammy. I run a little punk blog called Kamikaze Tailspin. It's an honor to be joining Be Bop Kids! (even if it is part-time). I'd like to thank Christian for giving me a trial run. Let's get started. This split comes from a label that's become a favorite of mine (Traffic Street). Unwelcome Guests play punk pop that hints at indie whereas Saint Sweetheart plays indie pop that hints at punk. Overall, a nice balance. I think you'll like 'em. Link

Black Sunday - Can't Keep My Hands Off You b/w Lights 7"

Some of you may have heard of Black Sunday. For those who haven't they're a new wavish punk band with subtle indie undertones. This is their "Can't Keep My Hands Off You" 7inch single co-released on Red Lounge & Disordered Records. I like it. It came out earlier this year but I think it's out of print by now. They do have a few releases that are still available through Tic Tac Totally.

Divorce - 10" EP 2009
I have been after this for a few months, and finally got my hands on it today after been sent it by their drummer."We're called Divorce , we're a five-piece from Glasgow, Scotland - four girls (Hillary-guitar, Sinead-vox,Vickie-guitar & VSO-bass) and me, Andy, drummer & token male. We've been going for about 18 months, played gigs around the UK with bands like Part Chimp, HEALTH, Deerhoof, Wetdog, Lovvers, Comanechi and Foot Village."
I heavily recommend this, and check their tour dates for a show near you.

Simian Mobile DiscoAfter making videos for Klaxons and These New Puritans and a billion other amazing projects, Saam Faramand is pretty much our favourite director (something that showed itself when he managed to get half the editorial staff to dance in a box for five minutes each for his last project). Simian Mobile Disco first worked with him in their "Hustler" video when he seemed to get every girl inside Catch to come round and make out with each other. Now, for SMD's new collaboration with Beth Ditto, Saam's brought together the woman from all those Nescafe adverts, sapphism, and electronic drug abuse. He also let us film him make it for our Heroes project with Vodafone - http://bit.ly/8aeJPGhttp:/
